The recruiting battles for the top prospects in the Class of 2014 are heating up, and the All Star Girls Report is following all the action. In the coming weeks, ASGR will break down the top recruits in the class by region. Today, we look at the ASGR New York Region, which includes the Northeast and much of the Middle Atlantic area. Subscribers can log on to the database at subscriber login at top of page.

The complete  All Star Girls Report database has over 600 players (2014-2018) class from the Middle Atlantic region. Ratings and player notes are included from veteran analyst Bret McCormick, providing programs from high majors to mid-majors with invaluable information.

Here are the Top 25 prospects for 2014 from the New York region. The Super Six players from the area include a comment for ASGR analyst Bret McCormick.

1.  Sierra Calhoun, 6-1, SG, Christ the King, Brooklyn, NY.  McCormick: “Sierra is a tremendous athlete who could play the two or three spot. She has a well-rounded game, but her forte is scoring. She can shoot the three, and she can get to the basket.”

2. Lauren Moses, 6-1, PF, Rancosi Valley, Mt. Holly, NJ (Virginia commit). McCormick: “Lauren has a strong body and good athleticism. She is an aggressive player who knows how to initiate contact, so she can score in the paint and she is a very good rebounder.”

3. Lynee Belton, 6-3, PF, The Bullis School, Clinton, MD. McCormick: “Lynee is a good athlete with excellent size. She is an inside-outside player. She can play down low, and she has the ability to take it coast-to-coast.”

4. Sadie Edwards, 5-10, SG, Blair Academy, Meriden, CT. McCormick: “Sadie has reformed her game in the past few months, and her stock has really risen. She has always been able to score, but now she has developed a well-rounded game.”

5. Katelynn Flaherty, 5-7, PG, Manasquan, Point Pleasant, NJ. McCormick: “Katelynn is a gym rat with a great skill set. She has a very high basketball IQ, and she can shoot the deep three. The thing that really stands out about Katelynn is that she is a tough, tough competitor.”

6. Bianca Cuevas, 5-6, PG, Nazareth Regional, Bronx, NY. McCormick: “Bianca has a real flair for the game, and she is always a fan favorite. She is a great passer, and her shooting range goes out beyond the arc.”
