Young Guns Will Pace Team Breakdown From Florida At DSC

Team Breakdown out of Florida will be powered this season by an inside-outside combo from the Class of 2017. Cabria Lee is a talented 5-7 combo guard who is rated as the No. 81 prospect in her class by the All Star Girls Report, and Katt Williams is a developing 6-4 post player. Lee and Williams will be supported by a strong cast, and Coach Pat Gajardo believes his team will gain momentum throughout the spring.

“We are going to have a young team, but I honestly think we have six Division I prospects in our organization,” Gajardo said. “By the end of the summer, I think we will have a pretty good team.”

The first big step for Team Breakdown will come at the 2014 Deep South Classic, which will be played in on April 25-27. Now in its 17th year, the Deep South Classic annually hosts many of the nation’s elite travel teams in a field that will eclipse 200 squads, and hundreds of collegiate coaches will be on hand searching for talent. The 2014 event will mark the second year that the Deep South Classic has been held at the Raleigh Convention Center. The venue was a tremendous success in its debut last year, with all games played at one site on 18 courts, and it is in a convenient central location.

Plenty of coaches at the Convention Center will be tracking Lee and Williams.
“Cabria is a scoring point guard, and we think she is one of the top players in the country,” Gajardo said. “She is the complete package. She can hit the three, she can get to the basket, and she can be a facilitator for the team. Katt is a big kid with big potential. She runs the floor, she blocks shots and she rebounds. She is working hard right now on her post moves. Katt is a tough kid, and her potential is limitless.”
ASGR analyst Bret McCormick also sees a bright future or the Breakdown duo.
“Lee is a very quick, very skilled combo guard,” McCormick said. “She is a real scoring threat. She is terrific attacking the basket, and she has three-point range. Williams is a strong athlete who can score inside. She is still learning, and she is definitely a player to watch.”
Team Breakdown will also have a pair of players who are relatively new to the circuit in Raleigh. Ashley St. Jean is a 6-1 forward from the Class of 2016, and Kanisha Battle is a 5-6 combo guard who is also a 2016 prospect.
“Ashley is a high  motor player who goes hard after every rebound,” Gajardo said. “She is just starting to build her outside game, both her shooting and her ball handling. Kanisha is an unknown right now, but I think she will blow up this summer. She is a scoring point guard who was one of the top scorers in Broward County this winter. She can set the table, she is a feisty defender, and she can score in bunches.”
“St. Jean is a blue collar, high energy type of player,” added McCormick. “She is a good athlete, and her offensive game is on the rise. Battle is a quick point guard with a scorer’s mentality, but she can also get her teammates involved.”
