Growing WV Infinity Added To ASGR Summer League Roster

When Jenna Curry was playing AAU ball as a youngster in West Virginia, she always played up in order to challenge herself. This summer, Curry’s organization, West Virginia Infinity, will be following the same philosophy when the Infinity joins the All Star Girls Report Summer League.

Curry started the Infinity program three years ago alongside former AAU teammate Cierra Jones. Both Curry (Ohio University) and Jones (West Virginia State) went on to play collegiate basketball, and now they want to provide that opportunity to another generation in wild, wonderful West Virginia.

“We feel great about the progress we’ve made so far with the program, and going the All Star Girls Report League is another big step,” Curry said. “We’re still young and developing, but we feel good about this summer.

“Our No. 1 goal is to get exposure for these kids so that we can help them earn a college scholarship. Being at the All Star Girls Report events is really going to help them get that exposure.”

Infinity has already drawn a number of talented players to the program. Their 17-U team will be led this summer by Rhea Smith (2017, 6-2, F-C), Jaden McDaniels (2018, 5-4, PG), Mikayla Long (2018, 5-5, G) and Allison Johnson  (2017, 5-9, G).

“Rhea plays very physical and aggressive inside, and she has an outstanding work ethic,” Curry said. “Rhea can get up and down the court well, and she has a great shot from 15 feet to go with her natural athletic ability.

“Jaden is another very aggressive player. She has been progressing every year, and I’m really excited to see what she can do this summer. Jaden is more of a giver who looks to pass. She isn’t worried about scoring, but when we need her to score, she gets it done.

“Mikayla is a very good set shooter who works hard and gives the game all she has. If we are down three points at the end, she is going to get the ball. She is very, very coachable, she has a big heart, and she loves the game.

“Allison is similar to Mikayla, but she can also drive to the basket. Allison is also a very aggressive defender.”

In addition to those 17-U standouts, the Infinity is excited about a number of emerging 15-U players, including Lakyn Atkins (2019, 5-8), Katy Darnell (2019, 5-2) and Jaisah Smith (2020, 5-7).
