Coach Jodi Kest of Akron already has three strong commitments from the Class of 2014.

The 2014 recruiting classes are coming into focus, and over the next month we will review some of the programs that are enjoying the most success in the early going. Here is a quick look at some of the teams that have been making noise this summer, along with the perspective of All Star Girls Report analyst Bret McCormick. Each athlete is listed with their ASGR national ranking for 2014.

VCU: Chadarryl Clay, No. 54 (Auburn Transfer), 5-7, PG; Yasmine Belk, No. 182, 6-3, C; Curteeona Brelove, No. 308, 6-2, PF; Brittani Burgess, NR (Delaware Transfer), 5-11, G.

McCormick on the Rams: “Clay will be an impact player at the point. She is a great player who can do a little of everything. Belk is another good get. She is aggressive and physical and she always plays hard. Brelove is a strong athlete with a high motor with a lot of potential. Burgess is a two-three player who can attack the basket, and she has a nice pull-up jumper.”

Wake Forest: Amber Campbell, No. 67, 5-8, PG; Nicole Floyd, No. 79, 6-2, PF; Taylor Gordon, No. 102, 5-11, WF.

McCormick on the Demon Deacons: “Wake Forest had a tremendous summer. This is their best class is a long time. Campbell is a very athletic leaper who can score and run the point. Floyd is another explosive athlete. She is also physical and she knows how to seal and score down low, and she is a shot blocker. Gordon is an athletic slasher who knows the game, and she has good shooting range.”

Auburn: Asia Robeson, No. 99, 6-4, PF; Bria Johnson, No. 135, 5-9, SG; Jessica Jones, No. 223, 6-2, PF; Jazmine Jones, No. 230, 6-0, WF.

McCormick on the Tigers: “Robeson is a good fit for their system. She is an unbelievable athlete who works hard. She has a great upside. Jessica and Jazmine are twins out of North Carolina. Jessica is another leaper with high energy, while Jazmine is a long athlete who never stops running.”

Western Kentucky: Ivy Brown, No. 80, 6-2, WF; Jaevionna Norris, NR, 5-11, F; Shalika Smith, NR, 6-1, C; Tashia Brown, NR, 6-0, WF.

McCormick on the Hilltoppers: “Ivy Brown is a local kid who is coming off a great summer. She has good size, and she could play a number of positions. Norris is an athletic wing who likes to post up, and she can put the ball on the floor. Smith is an athletic post with a strong body. She works hard and rebounds well. Tashia Brown is an athletic lefty who slashes to the basket and shoots the three.”

Akron: Greta Burry, NR, 6-1, PF; Lauren Hung, NR, 5-8, G; Kerri McMahan, NR, 5-6, PG.

McCormick on the Zips: “Burry is a blue collar type player who has an inside-outside game and a great motor. Hung is a combo guard  with skills and a high basketball IQ. McMahan is an athletic point guard who is a good facilitator. She has a great feel for the game, and she can hit the three. McMahan will surprise some people.”

UTEP: Rudiana Eduardo, No. 14 JC, 6-1, WF; Katharina Muller, No. 21 JC, 6-1, F; Atallah Mckinney, No. 139, 5-6, PG; Daeshi McCants, NR, 6-0, F; Marta Miscenko, NR, 6-3, C.

McCormick on the Miners: “Eduardo is an athletic inside-outside player who is originally from France. Muller is a strong player with great fundamentals. She can put it on the floor and she can hit the three. ‘LuLu’ Mckinney will be another quality guard at UTEP. She is a great athlete with a complete game, and she iwll have an immediate impact. Her dad is an assistant football coach at Texas A & M. McCants is a very athletic forward who can rebound and score inside. Miscenko, who is from Latvia, will add size in the paint.”
