Tennessee Glory Joins ASGR Summer League

The Tennessee Glory has a successful track record in major events sponsored by the All Star Girls Report, so it seemed to be a natural progression when the Glory signed up for the ASGR Summer League for 2016.

“We’re been playing in their tournaments for quite some time, and they are always the best events, across the board,” said Coach DJ Hairston. “They take care of the teams, they give the kids great exposure, and you are guaranteed the opportunity to play against some of the best competition in the country.”

The Tennessee Glory should be able to run with the best this summer. The program is loaded with top-flight young talent, but veterans will be leading the way including Coreena Ellis (2018, 6-1, F-C), Judith Cummings (2017, 5-6, G), Kaleah Shannon (2017, 6-3, C).

“I really think Coreena is one of the best young post players in Tennessee,” Hairtson said. “She has a college ready body, and she has great hands. She is a fantastic finisher inside.

“Judith might be the best shooter we’ve ever had in our program. She has unlimited range, and the kid’s arm never gets tired. She is the type of shooter who can miss her first four shots, and she just keeps shooting. Next thing you know, she’s hit six in a row.

“Kaleah reminds me of a young Courtney Parrish. She is already a very solid post player, but she is still a little raw. If she keeps working, I think she will develop into a high major recruit.”
