Tennessee Fury Returning To Raleigh For Deep South

Justin Boatman is in his first season as a head coach with the Tennessee Fury program. Boatman’s philosophy seems like a good fit for the Knoxville based organization.

“We are going to share the basketball, and we’re going to push the ball up the court,” he said. “Our emphasis is going to be to create scoring opportunities for everyone. We want to give them every opportunity to showcase their capabilities.”

The Fury will get their first major opportunity at the 2017 Deep South Classic, which will be held in Raleigh, NC from April 20-23. The event, which will feature some of the finest travel teams in the nation, will be played at the Raleigh Convention Center. There will be 20 courts in the building, keeping the entire event under one roof in downtown Raleigh.

The Fury’s roster in Raleigh will be deep and balanced. Some of the players who have been getting attention on the travel stage are Jordan Wright (5-8, PG, 2018), Jordan Brewster (5-8, G, 2018) and Haylee Luttrell (5-10, W, 2018).

“Jordan Wright is a playmaker,” Boatman said. “She has a good mid-range game, she can get to the basket, and she plays both ends of the floor. Jordan Brewster is a very, very good shooter with a quick release. She can handle the ball well, and she gets after it at both ends.

“Haylee is a very versatile, left-handed player. She is an inside-outside player  who shoots it well from the perimeter, and she can also post people up. She is also very good, and very versatile, on the defensive end.”
