Team Tennessee Pride Bringing Young Stars To Charlotte

The travel campaign can be challenging, especially for young players. This year, however, the players for Team Tennessee Pride will have some extra incentive to close the season on a strong note. The Pride will cap their year at the All Star Girls Report Summer Basketball Playoff.

“It can be a little tough when you get to the end of July sometimes,” program director Chris Brown said. “Some of you kids have already committed, maybe one or two has been injured, and everybody is dragging a little bit. It’s the end of a long summer.

“Having the Playoff is going to add something special that we need at the end. It’s a great concept, and the location is incredible. We know there are going to be a lot of college coaches in Charlotte, and you are going to be playing against great teams from all across the country.”

The 2015 ASGR Summer Basketball Playoff will be played on July 27-30 in Charlotte, NC. The event, which will feature many of America’s top club programs, will be held at the Carolina Courts facility.

Team Tennessee Pride is loaded with young talent this year. Those stellar young stars are led by a pair of 2017 prospects — 6-3 Shelmesha Barbee and 5-10 Semajia Ogburn — plus a trio of 2018 players — 5-8 Sloan Mann, 5-4 Jayden Green and 5-7 Jane Deason.

“Shelmesha is a back-to-the-basket player with a solid frame and soft hands, but she also has a buttery mid-range game,” Brown said. “Semajia is a young player who already has a great build. She has strong hands and quick feet, and she is a solid rebounder and defender.

“Sloan is a high energy player who can score off the dribble or shoot with serious range. Jayden is very quick with the ball, and she is a pesky defender. Jayden can knock down a jumper or facilitate for the team, and she reads defenses well. Jane can shoot it and handle it, and her long frame really helps make her a strong defender.”
