Talented FGB Headed To Nashville TOC

Few programs in the country can match the top end talent of FGB. The Florida based club is loaded with tremendous athletes, and they appear ready to enjoy a tremendous summer.

After a strong showing at the Deep South Classic in April, FGB will play at a series of major events, including  the Nashville Tournament of Champions. The Nashville event is being organized by the staff from the All Star Girls Report, and it will be held July 10-13. A national level field will be competing in the HoopTown venue.

Wherever FGB goes, there will be plenty of college coaches watching. In the 2017 Class alone, FGB has three players who are currently rated among the top 80 prospects in the country in that class by the All Star Girls Report. Leading the way is Ladayzia Williams (2017, 6-4, C, No. 7), and she will be joined by Jalayshia Thomas (2017, 6-2, PF, No. 31) and Tameria Johnson (2017, 5-4, PG, No. 79).
“I have to give Bret (McCormick, the ASGR analyst) credit for making the Anthony Davis comparison with Ladayzia,” said FGB director Kenny Kalina. “She is a huge talent that is just now coming into her own. She is a long athlete, and she is a great kid. Because of the way that she has played at events like the Deep South Classic, just about every major school in the country is recruiting her.
“This is really Jalayshia’s first summer of travel ball at the high school level. She was one of the Top 10 middle school players in the country, but she tore her ACL around Christmas of her freshman year. She is one of our most skilled players right now, and she just keeps getting better and better and better.

“Tameria is one of those players you would pay to watch play the game. She is always the fastest player on the floor, and she is a great passer with a great imagination. She’s just fun to watch.”

The FGB standouts are certainly having fun playing with each other.

“I’m really enjoying playing with this team,” said Williams. “We have so many good athletes, and we like to play fast. I think the biggest thing I bring to the team is my ability to rebound and run up and down the court. I’m working on my jump shot and my perimeter game this summer.”

“I love the way we get the rebound, kick it out and go,” added Thomas. “I think the best things I do are my rebounding and my outlet passes, and I feel good about my shot out to the free throw line.”
