Suwanee TOC Field Will Include Lady Meanstreets

The Lady Meanstreets program out of Chicagoland will have a talented cast of athletes this summer, including several younger standouts.

“I think we’re going to have a successful summer because we have a number of kids who are playing very well with their high school teams right now,” said program director Eric Armstrong. “We have some young kids who are getting great experience with their high school teams as freshmen and sophomores, and those kids have bright futures if they keep working hard.”

Those youngsters will be getting plenty of exposure at the upcoming Suwanee Tournament of Champions, which will be played on July 5-8. The All Star Girls Report run event will be held at the tremendous Suwanee Sports Academy, which is located just outside of Atlanta.

Among the young athletes who should make an impact for Lady Meanstreets in Suwanee will be Daijah Smith (5-11, CG, 2018), Janay Turner (5-8, 2G, 2019) and Siarra Smith (5-3, PG, 2018) and Shania Jackson (5-4, PG, 2019).

“Daijah is new to our program, but she will be a big help,” Armstrong said of the player who is ranked at No. 300 in her class by ASGR. “She is a wiry athlete, and she has a great stroke. Janay is very effective at putting the ball on the floor and going to the basket, and she can score from the perimeter. She has a strong body and a tremendous work ethic.

“Siarra and Shania are both good young point guards. Siarra is a floor general who can create opportunities for her teammates by penetrating. She is also a pesky defender. Shania is a playmaker who can run the offense, but she is just a tremendous on-ball defender. She can lock down a player and be very disruptive on the defensive end.”
