Surging Rivals Heading To Suwanee Tournament Of Champions

In recent years, the Rivals program in Massachusetts has consistently grown in size and strength. The summer of 2017 looks to be the finest travel campaign in club history.

“We are very excited about how the program is progressing,” said director Scott Hazelton. “We are headed in the right directon, and we feel like this is going to be a very, very good year.”

The Rivals teams will have a chance to showcase their power at the upcoming Suwanee Tournament of Champions, which will be played on July 5-8. The All Star Girls Report run event will be held at the tremendous Suwanee Sports Academy, which is located just outside of Atlanta.

The headliner for Rivals will be Janai Crooms (5-10, G, 2018), who is listed as the  No. 15 recruit nationally in her class by ASGR.

“Janai plays at a very high level,” said Coach Ushearnda Reynolds. “She is very smart and very athletic. Janai distributes the ball well, she is a good three-point shooter, and she can finish after contact in the lane.”

Rivals is also expecting big things this summer from Boston College commitment Taylor Soule (6-0, F, 2018) and Shyan Mwai (5-7, G, 2018).

“Taylor is an athletic, high energy player,” Hazelton said. “She can really do it all. She can shoot the basketball, run the floor and rebound.  Shyan was one of the top scorers in Massachusetts this winter. She is silky smooth, and she can hit the long ball. Shyan can also score in the lane, and she makes great decisions.”
