Sullivan To Lead Sky Digg Elite At Deep South Classic

The Sky Digg Elite program has a number of talented players, but one in particular has earned the spotlight. Not surprisingly for the team named for Skylar Diggins, the club’s star is a tough, talented point guard. Daly Sullivan is a 5-8 point guard from the Class of 2017, and she enters the spring ranked as the No. 9 recruit in the class by the All Star Girls Report.

“Daly is a fiesty redhead who can really shoot the ball and handle the ball. She is a Sue Bird type of point guard,” said Coach Mo Scott, who is Diggins’ stepfather. “Daly is a scrappy competitor, and she is a great leader.”

Sullivan and her teammates will be competing in the 2014 Deep South Classic, which will be played in on April 25-27. Now in its 17th year, the Deep South Classic annually hosts many of the nation’s elite travel teams in a field that will eclipse 200 squads, and hundreds of collegiate coaches will be on hand searching for talent. The 2014 event will mark the second year that the Deep South Classic has been held at the Raleigh Convention Center. The venue was a tremendous success in its debut last year, with all games played at one site on 18 courts, and it is in a convenient central location.

In addition to Daly Sullivan, Sky Diggs Elite has a pair of highly-regarded perimeter players who are currently in middle school. Megan Urbanski is 2019 5-6 point guard, and Keegan Sullivan (Daly’s sister) is a 2020 5-10 shooting guard.

“Megan is a hard working, intelligent point guard who just keeps getting better and better,” Scott said. “Keegan is a player who is going to be very special. She played up last year as a sixth grader, and she played well. She runs very well, and she has an all-around game. She rebounds well, and she can guard much taller players.”
Bret McCormick, the analyst for the All Star Girls Report, gave his perspective on the Sky Digg stars:
Daly Sullivan: “Daly is quick and very skilled, and she just has a great basketball IQ. She loves the game, and she is a player. Her family has made it pretty clear that her dream is to play at Notre Dame, and that’s what she is working toward.”
Megan Urbanski: “Megan is a good athlete who knows how to run the show. She is a tough competitor, and her game is improving. She is one to watch.”
Keegan Sullivan: “A lot of people will be watching Keegan. She is an athletic wing, and she can do it all. She already has a great understanding of the game when it comes to things like moving without the ball. She has an opportunity to be very, very good.”
