Returnees To Power Germantown Lady Panthers At DSC

After enjoying success at the 2013 Deep South Classic, the Germantown Lady Panthers will be back with a lot of familiar faces in April.

“We have a returning group that did very well last year,” said Coach Milton Kimbrough. “They are a very talented group, and the key is that they play well together.”

That group will be showcased at the 2014 Deep South Classic, which will be played in Raleigh, NC, on April 25-27. Now in its 17th year, the Deep South Classic annually hosts many of the nation’s elite travel teams in a field that will eclipse 200 squads, and hundreds of collegiate coaches will be on hand searching for talent. The 2014 event will mark the second year that the Deep South Classic has been held at the Raleigh Convention Center. The venue was a tremendous success in its debut last year, with all games played at one site on 18 courts, and it is in a convenient central location.

The core of the Lady Panthers’ squad includes four players from the Class of 2015: Nicole Enabosi (6-1, PF, No. 296 recruit in class according to All Star Girls Report), Dasia Harris (5-6, PG, Drexel commitment), Sheri Addison (5-9, G) and Japria Karim-Duvall (5-8, G).
“These four players are all among the top scorers in the DC area right now,” Kimbrough said. “Nicole has been with us since she was nine years old, and she is very talented. She is 6-1, but she moves like a guard and she handles the ball extremely well. Dasia is a very quick, very heady point guard. Sheri and Japria are perfect complements because they both know how to score the ball.”
That main quartet will be supported by two promising new players from the Class of 2016. Isabella Alarie is a 6-3 forward who is the daughter of former Duke standout Mark Alarie. Alexis Gray is a point guard who will earn serious playing time this spring.
ASGR analyst Bret McCormick gave his perspective on the veteran Lady Panther prospects:
Nicole Enabosi: “Nicole is a strong, aggressive athlete. She can really score in the paint, and she knows how to get to the free throw line.”
Dasia Harris: “She is a quick point guard who really understands the game. Offensively, she can attack the lane and she can hit the three.”
Sheri Addison: “She is a good athlete who can attack the rim, and she has good shooting range.”
Japria Karim-Duvall: “She is another good athlete who can slash to the basket or shoot it from the perimeter.”
