PSPA Rams Set For DC Nationals

The PSPA Rams lost a superior class following the summer of 2013, but fortunately for Coach Mike Harris the program was able to re-load successfully.

“We lost some very, very good players from last year, and now we are re-building,” Harris said. “I’m excited about this group, but you never really know for sure until we start playing. I think we have a solid 2016 class, and I think our 2015 group is very strong.”

The Rams will be relying on a trio of prospects from the Class of 2015 to lead the way this spring. That group includes Lindsey Abed (5-9, PG), Rachel Burns (5-7, G) and Erin Johnson (5-11, W).

“Lindsey is a very smart player who can handle it and shoot it. She plays good defense, and she just knows how to play the game,” Harris said. “Rachel is the best defensive player in the area, and she is our best rebounder. She is a very good athlete, her shot is coming, and she is just crazy good on defense. Erin is a player who has improved a lot. She is a good athlete who runs well, and she is developing her three-point shot and her footwork.”
Bret McCormick, the analyst for the All Star Girls Report, provided his perspective on the Rams’ stars.
“Abed is a quick, strong leftie who is fundamentally solid, and she is a vocal leader,” McCormick said. “Rachel is a good athlete with a high motor. She does all the little things — rebounds, defends, everything. Erin is a player who can put it on the floor or shoot the three.”
In addition to the 2015 nucleus, Harris is also high on many of his younger players, including Nikki Dyson (2016, 6-2, C).
“Nikki is improving her game every day. She has a good inside post game, she plays good defense and she rebounds well,” Harris said. “She is developing a nice jumper that is really going to help her.”
“Dyson has size and athleticism, and she is a blue collar type of player who has evolving skills,” added McCormick.
