Philly Triple Threat Sending Teams To Suwanee, DC Nationals

The Philly Triple Threat program is loaded with talent throughout its five team rosters, and the club traditionally sends those teams to face outstanding competition. In July, Triple Threat will be splitting up its forces in order to give their players the best possible experiences.

The top two Triple Threat teams will be showcased  at the Suwanee Tournament of Champions from July 5-8. The event will include 96 elite travel teams, with game being played at the Suwanee Sports Academy just outside Atlanta. The Suwanee TOC was previously called the FILA Nationals.

The younger Triple Threat players will be facing a serious challenge when they compete at the DC Nationals, which will be played from July 6-8. The DC Nationals will be held at the NEW 24 facility in District Heights, MD.

The most established Triple Threat prospect is Kalista Walters (2015, 6-1, F), who is rated as the No. 94 recruit in her class by the All Star Girls Report.
“Kalista is a do-it-all kind of player who could play the three or the four, and I really think she is one of the Top 30 or 40 kids in the country,” said Jon Taylor, who coaches the Triple Threat 11th Grade team. “Kalista can post you up, she can face up, she can put the ball on the floor, and she can shoot with range.”
“Walters is a strong, versatile athlete,” added Bret McCormick, the analyst from ASGR. “She can slash to the basket or post up, but the biggest thing with her is that she competes. She is a high motor player.”
Triple Threat’s 10th Grade roster is also filled with quality prospects, including Ashley Jones (2017, 5-6, PG), Chrisyanah Alston (2016, 5-8, W) and Alexa Middleton (2016, 6-1, F).
“Ashley was an all-state player as a freshman, and she is still improving in all areas,” said 10th Grade coach Messiah Reames. “She can handle it, shoot it, and score the basketball, but her biggest thing is her leadership ability on both ends of the court.
“Chrisyanah is super aggressive on both ends. She is our leading scorer and a hell of a rebounder for a girl her size. She plays tough defense, but her strength is her ability to put the ball in the basket. Alexa is working to improve her skills, and she really competes on both ends of the court. She is very strong, and she is a very, very good rebounder. Alexa is working hard to develop her back to the basket and face up games.”

McCormick also added his views on the younger Triple Threat prospects.

“Jones is an athletic, true point guard. She can run the team, but she also has the skill set to score in a variety of ways. She is one to keep an eye on,” he said. “Middleton has a strong body. She is a good rebounder and inside scorer with a good blue collar mentality. Alston is an athletic combo guard who a good mid-range game. She also has the ability to attack the basket and shoot the three.”
