Palmetto 76ers Prepping For Deep South Classic Challenge

The Palmetto 76ers will be traveling from South Carolina to attend the Deep South Classic once again this year, and Coach Jerome Dickerson knows it will be a special experience.

“It’s a great exposure event, and the All Star Girls Report staff just does things the right way,” Dickerson said. “It’s a class organization, and that’s their showcase event. I know that when our new girls walk into the building for the first time, and they see all those courts, it’s kind of overwhelming for them. It’s just a great atmosphere.”

The 2017 Deep South Classic will be held in Raleigh from April 20-23. The event, which will feature some of the finest travel teams in the nation, will be played at the Raleigh Convention Center. There will be 20 courts in the building, keeping the entire event under one roof in downtown Raleigh.

The 76ers will have a strong cast of perimeter athletes at the Deep South, including Ashley Williamson (5-8, G, 2019), Autheria Dantzler (5-7, PG, 2018) and Sharita Godfrey (5-11, W, 2018). ASGR currently has Williamson rated as the No. 43 recruit in the Class of 2019, while the 2018 list has Godfrey at No. 67.

“Ashley is our Steph Curry,” Dickerson said. “She is a big time player who was the MVP of her high school region this year. She can hit the deep three, and if you need someone who can really score, you need Ashley.

“Autheria is a super quick player who led her high school team in scoring. Her motor is running all the time, and she is a great on-ball defender. Sharita is the best three-point shooter on our team, and she is another very good athlete.”
