NDO Elite Heading Back To Deep South Classic

The NDO Elite program out of New York, which was formerly known as the NDO Hornets, has built a solid reputation in just three quick travel seasons. One reason for the club’s success has been strong scheduling.

For Coach Greg Johnson, who has taken his team to the Deep South Classic the past two years, it is a true “can’t miss” event.

“It just seems like whenever I talk to a college coach, they always tell me they are going to be at the Deep South Classic,” Johnson said. “When you think about the number of college coaches who are at the event, and the level of competition, you have to be there.

“We have 30-plus coaches watching every one of our games at the Deep South, and that’s great exposure for our kids. Plus, you get to talk to all the coaches, which is great.”

The 2017 Deep South Classic will be held in Raleigh, NC from April 20-23. The event, which will feature some of the finest travel teams in the nation, will be played at the Raleigh Convention Center. There will be 20 courts in the building, keeping the entire event under one roof in downtown Raleigh.

Among the athletes expected to shine for NDO Elite this summer are three 2018 players who are nationally ranked by the All Star Girls Report. Kania Pollock (5-9, PG) is listed at No. 189, Mary Foster (6-4, C) is at No. 429, and Mariah Gonzalez (5-10, WF) is ranked at No. 493.

“Kania is a pure point guard who is a phenomenal talent,” Johnson said. “She is the engine that keeps us going, and she can contribute in just about every way.

“Mary is your traditional back to the basket post player. She has a great shooting touch inside, and she is a great shot blocker. Mary has been working hard to increase her strength.

“Mariah is a versatile player who does it all for us. She can bang inside, and she has a nice shooting touch. More than anything, Mariah is the type of competitor who will run into a brick wall for her team.”
