Nashville TOC Added To Maryland Terps’ Schedule

The Maryland Terps program has consistently attended All Star Girls Report events, but the Terps will be making their first appearance at the Nashville Tournament of Champions in 2015.

“We haven’t played in the event before, but last year I stopped by the tournament and I saw over 100 coaches sitting there watching the games. As soon as I saw that, I said, ‘We’ll be here next year,'” remembered Terps coach Robert Hildreth.

The Terps — and those college coaches — will be at the 2015 Nashville Tournament of Champions. The event is once again being organized by the staff from the All Star Girls Report, and tournament will be held July 10-13. A national level field will be competing in the HoopTown venue. The Maryland Terps will definitely be one of the teams to watch in Nashville.

“We have a blueprint that works for us, and we were able to re-load again this year. We have two players who are back from last year, and we’ve added seven good players, so we’re excited about this group,” Hildreth said.

The loaded Terps roster in Nashville will include Andrea Robinson (2016, 6-2, F),  Mangela Ngandjui (2016, 6-0, F), Alexus Willey (2016, 6-0, W), and Chantelle Gross (2016, 5-6, G).
“Andrea is a long athlete who is a tremendous rebounder, and she knows how to finish,” Hildreth said. “Mangela is a complete workhorse. She is a Dennis Rodman type of rebounding machine, and a freak athlete. Alexus is a very athletic wing with a nice three-point shot. Chantelle is a quick guard with a great perimeter shot, and she can drive to the bucket.”
Bret McCormick, the analyst for the All Star Girls Report, also provided his perspective on the Maryland Terp standouts.
“Robinson is a very athletic power forward with has a college ready body. She is long and active, and she has explosive leaping ability to go with a face up game out to 15 feet,” McCormick said. “Ngandjui is similar. She has that strong body with great athleticism, but she is more of a blue collar, very physical type of player. Willey is an athletic, strong two-three player. She is an intelligent player with a scorer’s mentality and the ability to finish in the lane. Gross is a quick combo guard who likes to attack the rim, but she also has a nice shooting stroke from the arc.”
