Loaded So Cal Select Headed To La Jolla TOC

The So Cal Select club entered the summer of 2015 with tremendous talent, and great expectations. After spending months traveling across the country, So Cal Select returned home after accomplishing its mission.

“We definitely felt that, as a club, we met our expectations,” said Coach Matt Thalley. “We played in a number of big time events, we played well, and the kids really competed.”

The final competition of 2015 for So Cal Select will come at the La Jolla Tournament of Champions. The All Star Girls Report event, which will feature many of the region’s top travel teams, will be played on Sept. 26 at the La Jolla Country Day School.

The stacked So Cal Select roster is topped by USC commitment Ayanna Clark (2017, 6-1, PF), Nicole Freeman (2018, 5-9, G) and Juliana Louis (2017, 6-2, F). The All Star Girls Report currently has Clark listed as the No. 11 recruit in her class, while Freeman is at No. 130 and Louis.
“Ayanna is very good in the post. She is very nimble and she has a nice soft shot,” Thalley said. “I think she will do a great job as a four in college.
“Nicole played point guard for us this summer. That was a new experience for her, and she did very well. She is a very good leader and a very good decision maker.
“Juliana played on our second team in the summer, but we’re moving her up to our top team in La Jolla. She is a good, tough competitor, and she has a nice inside-outside game.”
