Las Vegas Bulldogs Heading East For Suwanee TOC

Most traveling teams are built by gathering premiere players from around the area. That is not the case with the Las Vegas Bulldogs. For the past 16 years, Coach Karen Weitz has taken the players from her Centennial High School team on the road to build unity, prepare for the future, and gain critical exposure for her top players.

“We have been to a couple of team camps this summer, and we’ve gone through some things just sort of tightening up what we want to do on both ends of the court,” Weitz said. “In July, we try to go out and play against good competition. It’s a great time for our team to get more experience playing together, and it’s an opportunity for our new and younger players to step up. We also have a chance to establish who will be our leaders in the next school year.

“At the same time, we are also working hard to get exposure for our players. We want to get their names out there, and do what we can to help them earn scholarships.”

Those athletes will get plenty of major exposure at upcoming the Suwanee Tournament of Champions. The event, which will showcase top flight teams from around the country, will be played at the expansive Suwanee Sports Academy outside of Atlanta from July 5-8.

Three players will be leading the way for the Bulldogs in Suwanee. They are Pam Wilmore (2017, 5-5, PG), Jayden Eggleston (2017, 6-0, F) and Justice Ethridge (2018, 5-8, SG).
“Pam is fast, she scores, and she can D up,” Weitz said. “She is very, very athletic, and she has a 30 inch vertical. She runs the show for us, but she can also score. She is ready to take whatever the defense is giving up. She can go to the rim, and she can hit the three.
“Jayden is a great ball handler, and she is quick off the dribble. She shoots it well from the outside, and she also has good footwork in the lane. Justice is a very knowledgable, very athletic player who was all-state last year. She really isn’t a player who jumps out at you with one particular thing, but at the end of the game she has 15 points and five assists. She is just a very smooth, very smart player.”
