Lady Heat Elite Ready For Lake Las Vegas Classic

Now in it’s sixth season of competition, the Lady Heat Elite program out of Las Vegas now plays an extremely competitive schedule that includes a series of high level events in the western part of the country. One key tournament for Lady Heat Elite this year will be the Lake Las Vegas Classic.

“We are definitely looking forward to that event. It’s going to be a great tournament,” noted Coach Wesley Reed. “It’s going to be full of great competition, and it’s a great facility with three courts.”

The Lake Las Vegas Classic will be played at the Westin Lake Las Vegas complex on July 10. The field in Nevada will be loaded with outstanding programs from around the country. Lady Heat Elite expects to be battling for the title in Las Vegas, with veteran standouts Taylor Turney (2016, 5-8, PG), Kianna Baker (2016, 6-4, P) and Rodjanae Wade (2016, 6-2, F) leading the way.

“Taylor is a pure point guard who is the leader of the team on the court,” Reed said. “Taylor has great court vision. She can score and create for herself, but she loves to create for others. Kianna is a low post scorer with imposing size. She can also step out and face up and hit the 16 footer. RJ is a very good stretch four who is active on the glass, and she really flourishes in transition.”

Lady Heat Elite’s roster is also loaded with talented young players, including Dre’una Edwards (2018, 6-1, F), Kambrayia Elyz (2018, 5-7, G) and Alaysia Reed (2018, 5-6, PG).

“Dre has the size of a four player, and the skills of a three,” Reed said. “She can do it all. Dre just has great skills and great vision, and she is an elite athlete. Her shot is very good at 17 feet, and she is working hard to improve her consistently at the three point line.
“Kambrayia is a quick, physical guard. Alaysia is cat quick, she is smart and strong. She is a one man press, and a one man fast break. She is more of a facilitator, but she can take over on the offensive end if her team needs that.”
