Kentucky Top Prospects Bound For DSC

John Washington runs the Kentucky Top Prospects program out of Lexington with one clear objective.

“In the Lexington area, they young ladies here do not have a lot of chances to earn a college scholarship, especially at the Division I level,” Washington explained. “Our one goal is to help these young ladies attain a college scholarship so that they can get a free education. We know that is very, very important to a lot of these families, and that’s what we’re trying to do.”

Top Prospects will be getting great exposure this spring at the  2015 Deep South Classic, which will be played in Raleigh, NC on April 24-26. The Deep South Classic, which annually features the nation’s top travel programs, will once again have the entire tournament in one facility — the tremendous Raleigh Convention Center.

The top prospect for Top Prospect is Breanna Glover, a versatile 6-0 athlete from the Class of 2016. Glover will enter the travel season as the No. 133 recruit in her class nationally according to the All Star Girls Report.
“Breanna can play any position on the floor, and she is our best player, hands down,” Washington said. “She can shoot it, pass it, handle it … She is physical, and she sees the floor very, very well. She is just an unbelievable all-around player.”
Bret McCormick, the analyst for ASGR, also gave his perspective on Glover.
“Glover is a great athlete,” he said. “She is left-handed, strong and aggressive. She can post people, or she can attack from the perimeter.”
Glover will be getting plenty of support this summer from T’laya Lyvers (2016, 5-8, G), Tia Barnett (2016, 5-9, CG), Nakeisha Green (2016, 6-0, F), Zariah Kavanaugh (2016, 5-9, W) and Kara Bodett (2017, 5-6, PG).
“T’laya is very fast and very tough — she was the MVP of our youth football team in a boys league — but the thing that separates Talia is her defense. She is so tenacious, and her motor never stops. Tia can score and she passes well. She sees the floor and understands the game. Nakeisha is a female Dennis Rodman. She wants to clean up every rebound, and she is very, very good at it. She is a physical player and she has a 4.0 grade point average.
“Zariah is an amazing player, and people are going to be saying, ‘Where has this girl been?’ She can play. She sees the whole floor, and she handles the ball very well. Kara is an aggressive player who is a great passer. When she is handling the ball, it’s like the ball is on a string.”
McCormick also talked about the Kentucky Top Prospect standouts.
“Lyvers is a good athlete who plays good defense and plays hard,” he said. “Barnett is a quick combo guard with a good mid-range game, and the ability to step out to the arc. Green is an active athlete who scores inside and runs the floor very well. Kavanaugh is a strong, aggressive athlete who can finish in traffic, pass, or hit the three. Bodett is a quick point guard who is a really good distributor, and she can get to the rim.”
