ASGR Announces Partnership With Kay Yow Cancer Fund

The All Star Girls Report has announced the completion of a marketing partnership agreement for 2016 with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Now in its eighth year, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund supports research, provides grants, and drives inspiration in the fight against women’s cancers. The Fund’s namesake was the head coach at NC State for over 30 years, and Yow guided the United States to Olympic Gold in 1988.

Stephanie Glance took over as the Fund’s executive director in October. Glance, who served as an assistant for Yow from 1994-2009 and then worked as the head coach at Illinois State and Columbia, is excited about the future of the Fund.

“I had been coaching for 30 years, and the time was perfect for a change,” Glance said. “I just had a real passion and desire to come back and do something special in Coach Yow’s memory and take the Fund to another level.

“I’ve been very involved since the beginning, and I’m a lifetime member on the board. I was on Coach Yow’s staff when she first developed the idea, and I was in on all the initial meetings. It’s just something that is very dear to my heart, not only because it was important to Coach Yow, but because it is an opportunity to help so many people.”

Another early proponent of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund was All Star Girls Report president Mike White.

“Mike always had a great rapport with Coach Yow, and he was supportive from the beginning,” Glance said. “The All Star Girls Report was one of the first groups to show our video at their events. They would show the NCAA mandated video to all the kids, and then they would show them our video.

“It was great that they did that so the younger kids would understand about Coach Yow, and they did it all on their own. That was just awesome, and it continued the connection with Coach Yow.

“We do work in a number of areas now, but women’s basketball has always been our core. Having this partnership with the All Star Girls Report is special for that reason.”
