Jones Will Lead North Florida Elite In Charlotte

The North Florida Elite program has a number of talented young basketball players, but one prospect stands above the rest. Jazmine Jones is a 6-0 wing from the Class of 2016 with an impressive pedigree and a bright future.

“Jazmine is definitely our No. 1 player,” said North Florida Elite Gold head coach Darryl Marshall. “We need for her to play well, because when she plays well it lifts the whole team. She is just a great athlete who comes from a very athletic family, and she is a hard worker who is doing what she needs to do to improve.”

Jones and her teammates will face an important challenge when they travel to Charlotte, NC for the 2015 ASGR Summer Basketball Playoff on July 27-30. The event, which will feature many of America’s top club programs, will be held at the Carolina Courts facility.

Jones is currently listed as the No. 13 recruit in her class nationally according to the All Star Girls Report. She is an extraordinary athlete with a long wingspan and the ability to score the basketball in a number of different ways. Jones’ mother was a collegiate track athlete, and her father (Reggie) played in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys. She has a sister playing basketball at Jacksonville University, and her brother is on the squad at FIU.

That pedigree has helped to mold Jones’ strong work ethic.

“I think I could be doing a lot better. I just need to keep working, and eventually that effort will lead to success,” Jones said. “I’m not really focused on any one or two things this summer because I’m just trying to get better at everything. I want to improve my jump shot and my ball handling, and I think my vision on the court needs to improve.

“The main thing I want to do this summer is to lead my team, and work hard to get my teammates involved. I want to be an all-around player who does more than score. I want to rebound well and make good passes.”

Jones said that while she has a list that includes her six top schools, she was still open to considering other options this summer.
