ISAA Focused On DC Nationals

The ISAA squad this summer has plenty of size, but the Philadelphia team’s fortunes are generally dictated by the play of two 5-7 players.

“Our team is big and fast. The first thing you notice is our size, but we have two guards who really make us go,” said Coach Antowine Graham. “If they are playing well, the team is going to have a good day. If they aren’t playing well, ……”

The two sparks for ISAA are Nia Holland (2015, 5-7, PG) and Amarri Trueheart (2015, 5-7, PG).

“Nia is a floor general who is a leader on and off the court,” Graham said. “She plays with a lot of confidence, and that spreads to the whole team. Amarri is fast and quick, and she is a great defender. She is just a bulldog on the court, and she leads with her energy.”

Those two backcourt leaders are complemented by the size of Kayla Thomas (2015, 6-5, C) and Bianca Durham (2016, 6-3, F). Thomas is listed as the No. 272 prospect in the Class of 2015 by the All Star Girls Report.

“Kayla is just a great low post player,” Graham said. “She runs the floor really well, and she is getting a lot of interest from the college coaches. Bianca could play the two, three or four spots. She plays with a lot of energy, and she is very confident in her perimeter skills.”

Bret McCormick, the analyst for ASGR, added his perspective on the ISAA standouts:

Kayla Thomas: “Thomas is a good athlete with a very strong body. She runs the floor well, and she gives her team and excellent low post presence.”

Nia Holland: “Holland is a true point who sees the floor well and runs the ball club. She has good quickness and good strength.”

Amarri Trueheart: “Trueheart is lightning quick and she has a high motor. She is a good defender, and she can get to the rim.”

Bianca Durham: “Durham is an athletic, multi-positional player. She has the skills to play inside or outside.”

The ISAA club will be showcasing it’s talented players at the highly competitive DC Nationals from July 6-8. The DC Nationals will be held at the NEW 24 facility in District Heights, MD.
