Improving SC 76ers Headed To Marietta TOC

The South Carolina 76ers seemed to build momentum throughout the summer months, and Coach Roger Wiley is anxious to see what is coming up in September.

“I thought we had a great summer because we improved all season long, and we met all of our expectations,” Wiley said. “We had a number of younger players really grow up this summer, and we just got better and better every tournament.”

Wiley hopes to see that trend continue when the 76ers go to the All Star Girls Report sponsored Marietta Tournament of Champions. The event, which will be played from Sept. 25-27 at the Suwanee Sports Academy outside of Atlanta, Ga., will feature some of the nation’s finest travel squads.

The 76ers will be led in Marietta by a strong core of nationally-rated prospects that includes Loyal McQueen (2020, 5-4, PG, ranked at No. 8 in her class by ASGR), Danae McNeal (2019, 5-9, CG, No. 79), Taylor Lewis (2019, 5-9, G, No. 35), Zaria Wright (2017, 5-9, PG, No. 155), Kamryn Lemon (2017, 5-8, G, No. 195), Jaelynn Murray (2017, 6-2, SF, No. 151) and Ahlea Myers (2018, 5-6, PG, No. 195).
“Loyal’s father (Derrick), who is coaching her team, was a point guard at Wake Forest, so it’s not surprising that she is a consummate point guard,” Wiley said. “She is a consistent three-point shooter and a great defender. She already has offers from South Carolina and Clemson.
“Danae has very good point guard skills, and she can jump out of the gym. She is also a great shooter, either from three-point range or mid-range. Taylor is extremely athletic. She is a great leaper and a great slasher.
“Zaria is an outstanding point guard who always seems to know where everyone is, and she is a consistent three-point shooter. Kamryn is a fluid athlete with a good body type. She is very athletic, she has a great handle, and she has a feel for the game.
“We have been getting a lot of calls about Jaelynn lately, and I think next year is going to be a real breakout year for Jaelynn. She handles the ball well, and she has an inside-outside game with good shooting range. Ahlea is an aggressive shooter, but she can handle the point. She is a very fast player, and she does a great job pushing the pace.”
