By now you are all aware of the global spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We will continue to monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19), which the World Health Organization (WHO) has now classified as a pandemic.
In an attempt to put the health of you and your kids first, The 22nd Annual Deep South Classic presented by ASGR Basketball will be moved to the NCAA July recruiting period.
The new tournament dates will be held July 6-8th at the Raleigh Convention Center, in accordance with updates from the NCAA Certification Office concerning the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The May events will be postponed with additional dates to be shared in the coming weeks.
The Battle of H-Town in Houston, TX July 20-22 and The National Championship in Las Vegas July 23-26 are still scheduled to take place during the NCAA recruiting period.
We realize this is an unprecedented step, and a decision that ASGR does not take lightly. We know that it may cause significant disruption, but rest assured we are acting out of an abundance of caution and with the highest regard to the health and safety of the entire Grassroots community, as well as the welfare of our friends, families, fans and neighbors.
I hope that everyone sees this decision for the ASGR program as a sign of strength and maturity. The health and well being of the athletes, parents and visitors who participate and support the Grassroots community is the most important thing to us.
We are monitoring the situation closely with The City of Raleigh, NC; Houston, Texas; Las Vegas, Nevada and the Government/Health Agencies.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership during this time. We encourage you to do what is necessary to keep your families and your communities safe.
Sincerely,
Michael T White and Bret McCormick
