Hoop Dreams Athletic Will Defend Home Turf At Deep South

Hoop Dreams Athletic has grown into one of the finest programs in North Carolina, and the club will be defending its home turf when Hoop Dreams competes in the Deep South Classic for the 12th straight year.

“Once we went for the first time, I knew we would never go anywhere else on that weekend,” said Coach Dorian Williams. “I don’t care what other events are going on, on those dates we’ll be at the Deep South.

“The All Star Girls Report people do a phenomenal job with every event they run. They just know what they are doing in every department, and you know you are going to face top kids from all over the country.”

The 2017 Deep South Classic will be held in Raleigh, NC from April 20-23. The event, which will feature some of the finest travel teams in the nation, will be played at the Raleigh Convention Center. There will be 20 courts in the building, keeping the entire event under one roof in downtown Raleigh.

Hoop Dreams Athletic has a bright future thanks to some new additions. The program brought in several talented players and, most importantly, they added highly respected coach Tierre Ramsey.

Williams and Ramsey will be expecting big performances from young players like Anna Poe (5-9, G, 2021) and Lexi Jeffreys (6-1, F,  2020). The All Star Girls Report currently has Poe listed as the No. 27 prospect in her class nationally.

“Anna is just an amazing talent. She’s in the eighth grade now, and she played on her high school’s varsity team and she made the all-conference team. She’s special,” Williams said.

“Lexi is a really tough kid who plays on our 15-U team. She is a strong, active player who gets a lot done in the lane.”
