When the Havoc City Elite leadership contemplated returning to the All Star Girls Report Summer League in 2016, the decision was easy to make.

“The exposure level at their events is just unbelievable, and they do a great job of running their tournaments,” noted Coach James “Boogie” Washington. “I’ve never had a parent complain about anything at one of the All Star Girls Report events.

“On the basketball end of things, they get great talent in the League. If you are in the All Star Girls Report Summer League right now, it’s like riding a wave that keeps building. Everyone seems to be very impressed with the League.”

Everyone is also impressed with Washington’s team, which will be highlighted this summer by a strong perimeter. Four of the Havoc City Elite players come from Washington’s prep team, Forestville (MD) High School.

Leading the way for Havoc City will be Anissa Rivera, a 6-1 freshman wing player who is currently listed as the No. 18 recruit in the Class of 2019 by ASGR.

“Anissa is a very, very good athlete. She has a wiry frame, and she has great speed and jumping ability,” Washington said. “Anissa is a great shooter, and she is a great shot blocker at the other end.”

Havoc City is also expecting big things this summer from Taleah “Noo” Washington (2018, 5-7, PG, No. 165), Aliyah Matharu (2019, 5-6, CG, No. 95) and Ayaina Keith (2018, 5-5, G). Washington, who is the coach’s daughter, has verbally committed to Old Dominion.

“Taleah is more of a scoring point guard,” the coach said. “She is a three point specialist, and she is the leading scorer on our high school team right now. But Taleah also has a very high basketball IQ. She is a true floor general.

“Aliyah is a slasher who loves to attack the basket, and she is a great defender. On the defensive end, Aliyah is going all out, every single possession. Ayaina is a very good outside shooter with great range, and she has unbelievable  ball handling skills.”
