Georgia Pistols Shooting For Deep South Classic Title

The Georgia Pistols have been helping to create outstanding basketball players for over 20 years, and program director Jack Feagin has played a key role in that journey. This year, the Pistols will have 25 total teams and approximately 350 youngsters in the organization.

“We have come a long way,” Feagin said. “We have a lot of strong players again this year, and you’re always excited when the season is beginning.”

One of the first major events for the Pistols will be the 2017 Deep South Classic, which will be held in Raleigh from April 20-23. The event, which will feature some of the finest travel teams in the nation, will be played at the Raleigh Convention Center. There will be 20 courts in the building, keeping the entire event under one roof in downtown Raleigh.

One of the top teams for the Pistols this summer will be the 2018 Black team, which will be guided by Coach Kirk Inman. That squad will be led by Audrey Jordan (5-10, W, 2018), Armani Smith (5-8, G, 2018), Maya Inman (5-10, F, 2018), Yazz Wazeerud-din (5-10, SG, 2018) and Kayla Frey (5-9, W, 2018). The All Star Girls Report has Frey ranked as the No. 334 recruit in the Class of 2018 heading into the summer.

“Audrey can score from multiple areas on the floor.  She is a very good slasher that finishes around the basket with either hand,” Inman said. “Armani is a high motor player that leads by example. She is a combo guard that has great play making ability, and she is very strong defensively.
“Maya is a very good three-point shooter with soft touch on her jumper in the key. She is also a superb defender who rebounds, she has a high basketball IQ and is a defensive leader.
“Yazz is an explosively athletic combo guard with a tremendous mid-range game. She attacks the rim off the dribble, draws contact and finds the free throw line with regularity. Yazz has a quick first-step attack.
“Kayla is an athletic combo-guard that manufactures opportunities. She breaks down defenders and delivers to the arc. Kayla rebounds well, handles and distributes in transition. She can also drive and finish in traffic.”
