Deep South Classic

Covid 19 Update On Deep South Classic In April 2021
The current Executive Order from the State of North Carolina regarding COVID-19 does not place restrictions on the type of sports that are allowed to be played in North Carolina. However, the state’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) strongly recommends only playing sports in which participants can maintain social distancing. Sports are separated into three color-coded categories. They are green (play), yellow (play, but with caution and masks, and with limitations in place); and red (not recommended). Basketball is currently listed as a red sport. That means, as of today, the DHHS is recommending that basketball not be played in North Carolina. The City of Raleigh has determined it will follow DHHS recommendations and will not host sports listed in the red category. As we all know during this pandemic, things seem to change on an almost-daily basis. We cannot predict the future. Hopefully conditions will improve in the near future and more sports, including basketball, will be approved for competition. But there are no guarantees. We will keep you updated with any developments as they happen.
