Elmore Will Lead CBC To Las Vegas FILA Sixty Four

Jennifer Rizzotti and her staff at Hartford will be following the CBC squad this summer.

Desiree Elmore is starting create a stir on the national scene, but the rising sophomore from the Connecticut Basketball Club is still searching for a breakout performance. Perhaps that will come when CBC travels west to the FILA Sixty-Four event.

“I think Desiree is the best player in Connecticut, and one of the best on the East Coast,” said CBC director Scotty Nails. “We think she can compete against anyone, and we’re anxious to see what she can do in these major events we have coming up. I think she has improved a great deal since the Deep South Classic in April, and now it’s time for the rest of the nation to see that.”

The FILA Sixty-Four, which will include over 48 national teams, will be played at the Westin Lake Las Vegas from July 27-30. This is one part of a series of previews for the FILA Sixty-Four where we will highlight the outstanding programs who will be competing.

Elmore is a 5-11 guard who is currently ranked as the No. 27 prospect in the nation by the All Star Girls Report. Nails is confident that Elmore will rise even higher in July.

“Desiree can do it all,” he said. “She can shoot the three, and she can attack the rim. She is very unselfish so when she creates a double-team, she always finds the open man. If they don’t double her, she is going to score.”

Elmore will be getting plenty of help on the CBC perimeter from Kristalyn Baisden and Teneya McLaughlin. Baisden, who has committed to St. Joe’s, is a 5-8 guard who is listed as the No. 130 recruit in the Class of 2015 by ASGR. McLaughlin is a 5-7 point guard from the Class of 2014.

“Kristalyn is a wing shooter who has been battle tested over the past couple of years,” Nails said. “Tania is a very quick guard who gives us leadership and gets us into our offense. On the defensive end, she can apply the kind of pressure that disrupts an opponents’ offense.”
