Commitment Updates For More Schools

The new staff at George Mason, led by head coach Nyla Milleson, is off to a fast start in recruiting.

The 2014 recruiting classes are coming into focus, and over the next month we will review some of the programs that are enjoying the most success in the early going. Here is a quick look at some of the teams that have been making noise this summer, along with the perspective of All Star Girls Report analyst Bret McCormick. Each athlete is listed with their ASGR national ranking for 2014.

George Mason: Kristi Mobube, No. 120 (Florida State Transfer), 6-2, F; Jasmine Jackson, No. 154 (Georgetown Transfer), 5-9, G; Qierra Murray, No. 251, 5-9, PG; Cydni Cole, No. 261, 5-6, PG; Casey Davis, No. 550, 6-2, PF; Taylor Dodson, NR, 6-0, F.

McCormick on the Patriots: “Mason got two important transfers who will help. Mobube is a very good athlete who excels down low, and Jackson is a veteran scoring guard. Murray could play the one or two, and she will play early. Cole is a very athletic, strong point guard who knows how to attack the lane. Davis can play the high or low post.”

Pacific: Kiki Moore, No. 136 (Washington State Transfer), 5-8, PG; Najah Queenland, No. 168, 5-10, SG; Madison Parrish, No. 382 (Fresno State Transfer), 5-10, PG; GeAnna Summers-Luaulu, No. 390, 5-10, SG.

McCormick on the Tigers: “Pacific got two transfers who will strengthen their perimeter. Moore is a very quick, strong, intelligent point guard with experience. Parrish has size, good shooting range and a high basketball IQ. Queenland should compete for a starting spot as a freshman. She is a very athletic, explosive guard who knows how to score. Summers-Luaulu is another good athlete with good skills.”

Wisconsin-Green Bay: Jessica Lindstrom, No. 199, 6-0, WF; Jen Wellnitz, No. 305, 5-10, PG.

McCormick on the Phoenix: “They have two quality commitments who fit the Green Bay mold. Lindstrom is a good athlete who really knows how to play, and she has a high motor. There were a lot of bigger programs who were recruiting her. Wellnitz could play the one or the two. She is a hard-nosed, high IQ player.”

Old Dominion: Maia Lee, No. 225, 6-3, C; Keyana Brown, No. 284, 5-9, WF.

McCormick on the Monarchs: “Lee gives ODU a true low post player with a strong body who can bang and score down low. Brown is a very strong, skilled player who is  surprisingly athletic. She also has three-point shooting range.”

Saint Louis: Jackie Kemph, No. 192, 5-7, PG; Jenny Vliet, No. 289, 6-2, WF; Aaliya Covington, No. 324, 6-0, WF; Shea Shipman, NR, 6-2, C; Maddy Gits, NR, 6-3, C.

McCormick on the Billikens: “This is a big, quality class that fit Lisa Stone’s system and they will win a lot of games. Kemph is a just a smooth player who gets to the basket consistently, and she has great shooting range. She will contribute from Day One. Vliet is 6-2, but she is so skilled and versatile that she could play the two, three or four. Covington is a very athletic, blue-collar player. Shipman and Gits will help shore up the low post.”

Northern Kentucky: Faith Sanders, No. 337, 5-11, G; Molly Franson, NR, 6-2, C; Kasey Uetrecht, NR, 6-0, F; Mikaila Terry, NR, 6-0, F.

McCormick on the Norse: “Sanders will fill a void because she is a sleeper prospect who is very athletic. Franson has good footwork and can score inside, and she can step out to 15 feet. Uetrecht is a wing with size who is very fundamentally sound. Terry is another wing with size, and is a good shooter who plays hard.”
