The DC Cobras enjoy playing against top flight competition, and the club typically hits the road to challenge the best possible opposition. This summer, many of those elite clubs will be coming to the Washington area for the DC Nationals, and the Cobras will be waiting.
“This is definitely a great opportunity for us,” said Coach Henry Anglin. “We usually have to travel down into the Southeast looking for good competition. Having all these great teams coming to DC is fantastic.”
The DC Nationals will be played from July 6-8. The DC Nationals will be held at the NEW 24 facility in District Heights, MD.
The DC Cobras will be led this summer by 5-6 point guard Mykea Gray, who has been ranked as the No. 100 recruit in the Class of 2016 by the All Star Girls Report.
“Mykea is a very shifty player who can get to the basket at will,” Anglin said. “She has good strength, and she knows how to finish against contact. She also handles the ball very well.”
“Gray is a player who can handle the ball, and she can score in a number of different ways,” added ASGR analyst Bret McCormick. “She is a strong, aggressive player who just has a great feel for the game.”
The Lady Cobras are also expecting big things from Raven Riley (2016, 5-10, CG), Armonie Lomax (2016, 5-10, W) and Tytilayo Green (2016, 6-0, WF).
“Raven is a good, explosive athlete who jumps well. She has a strong mid-range game, and good range on her shot,” Anglin said. “Armonie can use her size and athleticism to guard any of the five positions. She has a good outside shot and a great first step. She also has a college ready body. Tytilayo is an excellent shooter. She led the DC area in three-pointers made during the winter.”
“Riley is a long athlete who can shoot the three and attack the rim,” added McCormick. “Lomax is a quick, strong two-three player with a good mid-range game and shooting range that extends to the arc. Green is a shooter with NBA type range.”
