BTR Returning To ASGR Summer League

The BTR (Below The Rim) program out of Oklahoma competed in the inaugural season of the All Star Girls Report Summer League in 2015, but BTR didn’t participate last year. In 2017, BTR will be back.

“We missed it,” program director Antoine Smith said. “It was an incredible experience, and the competition level was incredible. “Every event is well run, and you get to play against various teams and various styles from across the country. All the kids on the circuit are really good in their own area, but when you get out of your neighborhood you find out where you really stand and what you really need to work on.

“The League also gives you maximum exposure, and you get a wide range of exposure. We have some kids who want to stay around the region for college, but some of them want to go to the East Coast or the West Coast. The League gives them exposure with coaches from every part of the country.”

This summer, Smith believes that his teams will be able to run with just about anyone from coast to coast.

“We did well last year with some younger kids on our top team, so I feel like we will be very competitive this summer,” Smith said. “We also have a younger team that could be very good. We have a number of young players — freshmen and eighth graders — to have the potential to be very, very special.”
