Best Choice United Headed To Chicagoland TOC

There was one downer for the Best Choice United program in 2015, but for the most part the club is coming off a very, very strong summer campaign.

“Losing Ty Harris was hard, but overall we had a very good summer,” said Coach Marlon Wright. “We had a very young team, and I feel like they really overachieved. We were also excited because we had a lot of college coaches at every game. When you have coaches watching you like that, it shows that they see value in our kids, and it makes for a very productive summer.”

Best Choice United will close out their 2015 campaign at the Chicagoland Tournament of Champions. The All Star Girls Report event, which will be played on Sept. 26 at Bolingbrook High School, will feature an outstanding field.

The most well-known Best Choice players are Harris (2016, 5-11, G, ranked at No. 29 in her class by ASGR) and Katlyn Gilbert (2018, 5-11, G, No. 8). Harris recently trimmed her list of potential colleges to 10, and Gilbert experienced a major jump in recruiting intensity this summer.

Two top-flight prospects from Best Choice has already committed to schools. Emily Sullivan (2016, 6-4, P, No. 128) is headed to North Carolina, and Kayla Coffman (2016, 6-3, P) is bound for Evansville.

Two talented younger players — Ally Reiff (2017, 5-11, CG, No. 145) and Zion Sanders (2017, 5-8, 2-3, No. 186) — made their marks this summer as well.
“Ally is a very athletic player,” Wright said. “She is a good shooter, plays good defense, and knows how to finish against contact. Zion is a very strong, physical player. She is an athlete who attacks the basket very well, she plays good defense, and her long range shooting is coming along.”
