AOT Brings Top Talent To Deep South Classic

MaChelle Joseph of Georgia Tech is one of the coaches who will be watching AOT’s progress this summer.

Few programs in the country can match the top level talent that powers the AOT Lady Rebels from Atlanta. AOT will hope to use it’s size, speed and intensity to conquer the Deep South Classic.

The Deep South Classic, which will include 200 teams, will be played at the Raleigh Convention Center from April 19-21. This is the fifth in a series of previews for the Classic where we will highlight the outstanding programs who will be competing.

The AOT Lady Rebels, who will be coached by Omar Cooper, will be looking to showcase their trademark style in Raleigh.
“We like to go up and down … real fast,” Cooper said with delight. “We like to run, and we like to press and get in your face.”
The five players who will be leading the way for the Lady Rebels all have the physical tools to deliver what the coach expects. The top two prospects on the roster are both from the Class of 2015. Caliya Robinson is a 6-3 power forward who is listed as the No. 7 recruit in the class by the All Star Girls Report, and Te’a Cooper is a 5-7 point guard who is committed to North Carolina (and rated at No. 8 in the class by ASGR).
“Caliya is very athletic, and I think she is the fastest player in the country at her position,” Coach Cooper said. “She is an excellent shot blocker, and she has a soft touch inside. Te’a s a savvy point guard who can handle the ball and push the tempo. She keeps everyone involved, but she can also take over at the end of a close game.”
Three Lady Rebels from the Class of 2014 are also big time recruits. Bree Horrocks (Purdue commitment) is a 6-4 center who is listed at No. 85 in the class; Taylor Gordon (uncommitted) is a 5-11 wing who is ranked at No. 120; and Bailey Rexing (Ole Miss commitment) is a 5-2 guard.
“Bree is good with both hands around the rim, and her shooting range goes all the way out to the three-point line,” noted Cooper. “Taylor is one of those kids who can do it all. She could play anywhere from the 1 to the 4 spot for us. Bailey is a great shooter and she is a high energy player who is a very active defender on the ball.”
