A Closer Look: ASGR Dallas Region 2014 Prospects

Texas Tech coach Kristy Curry has nine national Top 100 prospects from the Class of 2014 in her home state.

Texas may be known for big things, but the Class of 2014 in the Lone Star State is loaded with small (but immensely talented) prospects. The chase for the top 2014 recruits is accelerating, and the All Star Girls Report is following all the action. In the coming weeks, ASGR will break down the top recruits in the class by region. Today, we look at the ASGR Dallas Region, which includes the entire state of Texas. Subscribers can log on to the database at the subscriber login at the top of the page.

The complete  All Star Girls Report database has over 220 players (2014-2018 classes) from the Texas region. Ratings and player notes are included from veteran ASGR analyst Bret McCormick, providing programs from high majors to mid-majors with invaluable information.

Here are the Top 25 prospects for 2014 from the Miami region. The Super Six players from the area include a comment from McCormick.

1.  Brianna Turner, 6-4, PF, Manvel, Pearland, TX.  McCormick: “Brianna has been rated as one of the top players in the 2014 Class for quite some time. She has the size, and the athleticism to compete on the perimeter.”

2.  Recee’ Caldwell, 5-7, PG, Johnson, San Antonio, TX.  McCormick: “Recee’ is one of the finest point guards in the country. She has a phenomenal basketball IQ, and she uses that knowledge to make everyone on the court better. This is a great commitment for UCLA.”

3.  McKenzie Calvert, 5-9, PG, Steele, Schertz, TX.  McCormick: “McKenzie is a Baylor commitment, and she is another one of the nation’s best point guards. She is a good athlete with a good skill set, and she really knows the game.”

4.  Brooke McCarty, 5-5, PG, Clear Springs, League City, TX.  McCormick: “Brooke is a true point guard who has committed to Texas. She is a great passer who knows how to run the show, and she has a beautiful running jumper that she can shoot with her right or left hand.”

5.  Terriell Bradley, 5-9, PG, Mansfield Timberview, Grand Prairie, TX.  McCormick: “Terriell is a combo guard who is a great athlete. She can attack the basket with excellent quickness, and she has a nice pullup jumper. She can run the show, but she also be a scoring threat.”

6.  Atallah McKinney, 5-6, PG, Bellaire, Houston, TX.  McCormick: “They call her ‘Lou-Lou,’ and she is another outstanding combo guard. She can play the point, but she also knows how to score.”
