1onNone Ready For ASGR Summer League Debut

All signs point to a strong travel season for the Maryland area program 1onNone, which will be entering the All Star Girls Report Summer League in 2016.

“We’re definitely excited,” said Coach John Witherspoon. “We had great fall workouts with the kids, and their high school seasons are going very, very well. I get really excited thinking about getting back in the gym together in the spring.

“We’ve always loved the way the All Star Girls Report does things, so when they asked us to join the League this year it was a no-brainer. Everyone here is ready for the challenge of competing in the League.”

Leading the way for 1onNone will be a pair of sophomores from Poolesville (MD) High School. Erin Green is a 6-3 stretch four, and Kelliann Lee is a 5-10 perimeter player.

“Erin is a player who can get it done inside, and she can step out and shoot the three,” Witherspoon said. “On the block, she can finish well with either hand, and she is a very good shot blocker on the defensive end. But she is also a player who can handle the ball in the half court, she shoots the three, and she plays on the top of our three-two zone.

“Kelliann is a multi-positional player who gives us good length on the perimeter. She is an incredible athlete who can really get off the floor, plus she has excellent quickness and strength. Kelliann has a really good mid-range game, and she can finish inside with either hand.”

Witherspoon is also expecting big summers from Katie Gillick (2018, 5-5, G) and Ali Mikaele (2018, 5-10, G).

“Katie is a player who is really coming on strong,” the coach said. “She did a great job in the fall, and now she is playing very, very well for her high school team. She is a hard-nosed competitor who handles the ball well. Katie will hit the open shot, and she has the ability to create her own shot.

“Ali is a versatile player. She handles the ball well and does an excellent job playing the point, but she can also score. She is effective shooting off the dribble, and she is a good three-point shooter. Ali is big and strong enough to go inside, and she can even post up smaller players. Ali also loves to get to the free throw line.”
