1onNone Returning To Deep South Classic

The 1onNone program will be back at the Deep South Classic for the fifth time in April, and Coach John Witherspoon is confident that his club will represent.

“We’re excited, and we’re looking forward to getting back on the court,” Witherspoon said. “We’ve had a number of players who had very good high school seasons with expanded roles, so I’m anxious to get back together to see all of their new strengths.

“I know the kids are excited about getting back in the gym. When they’re excited, that’s a big plus.”

The 2017 Deep South Classic will be held in Raleigh from April 20-23. The event, which will feature some of the finest travel teams in the nation, will be played at the Raleigh Convention Center. There will be 20 courts in the building, keeping the entire event under one roof in downtown Raleigh.

1onNone will have a deep roster this summer, with players such as Kelliann Lee (6-0, PG, 2018), Erin Green (6-3, F, 2018), Julia Muzzatti (5-8, W, 2018) and Bria Fuller (5-7, CG, 2019) leading the way.

“Kelliann is a player who does everything well, and she gives us great size at the point,” Witherspoon said. “She keys our defense, and she leads us in steals and deflections. This winter Kelliann has worked hard on her outside game, and that is really going to open up the floor for us.

“Erin is a player who can shoot the three, and she can also post people up. She is very confident with her back to the basket, but she will hit that three and she can put the ball on the floor.

“Julia is coming off a very strong high school season where she played against great competition in D.C. She has improved a great deal since last fall. She has become a three-point threat, and she has the ability to defend taller players.

“Bria can play either guard spot. She is very good against full court pressure because she handles the ball, she creates, and she can score in traffic. She is also a good defender who has a relentless motor.”
